Historical Post Card New York, U.S. View
Front: "Hudson River and Grant's Tomb, Riverside Drive, New York"
Back: In leaving New York for a trip up the Hudson River on one of the evening steamers, the panorama of the towering skyline, the busy river where the world's most famous steamers are lup up at their piers, the ferries busily crossing in each direction, the magnificent view of the Riverside Drive lined with palatial residences and apratment houses combine to impress upon the mind the aw-inspiritng greatness of the metropolis of the new world. Grant's tomb is passed just before the steamer stops at the 129th Street landing on its way up the river and the search light usually does not miss the opportunity to illume the imposing structure.

Hillsboro—Home of Franklin Pierce. Franklin Pierce, fourteenth President of the United States, was born at Hillsboro, N.H., on Nov. 23rd, 1804. He was graduated from Bowdoin College in 1824, and in 1834, married Jane Means Appleton. They both preferred the quiet of their New England home to the fashionable life at Washington, and were glad when they could return to Hillsboro at the experiation of Pierce's term of office in 1857. Later they moved to Concord, where they passed the remainder of their days in comfort and ease. Pierce died on Oct. 8th, 1869, six years after the death of his wife.

Size: 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches

The Sunbonnet Babies were the creation of Betha L. Corbet, an American artist from the early 1900's.  She hid the faces of the children behind sunbonnets because she lacked confidence in her ability to draw faces.  Her themes for her art were the daily chores that help children develop character traits in the home—washing, ironing, sewing, sweeping, dusting, baking, and—on the seventh day, resting from your labors to go fishing and to church.
